Things to remember when packing for a trip abroad

If your destination is a warm—or even exotic—country, it’s a good idea to plan ahead for how you’ll get from one place to another once you arrive . For example, when traveling to Dubai, renting a car is a must , as walking among locals isn’t a common practice. If you plan to enjoy your trip to the fullest and splurge without worrying about the expense, you can rent a Porsche . This way, you can vacation in complete comfort and with a rental supercar without worrying about public transportation.

Here’s a short list of things you absolutely mustn’t forget before boarding the plane:

  • Money and documents , of course;

It’s best to carry money and documents in your carry-on luggage, not in your checked suitcase. It’s also recommended that you store them separately.

Check this list to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything:

  • Passport;
  • Health insurance;
  • Flight/train tickets (available electronically);
  • Driving license;
  • Hotel reservations, apartment confirmations and other types of accommodation;
  • Your notes: route, phone numbers, addresses, contacts.

Some medications should be purchased before leaving;

For chronic illnesses, bring the medications your doctor has prescribed. To carry them in your carry-on luggage, it’s advisable to also have the prescription. Here’s a small kit of universal medications that you should always carry on any trip:

  • Analgesics;
  • stomach pain medications;
  • cramp medications;
  • Aspirin;
  • A bactericidal plaster;
  • A hygienic lipstick.

Personal hygiene and care items should also be at the top of your travel essentials list;

You should never bring large boxes because they weigh a lot and can get lost in your luggage.

  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste;
  • Razor and shaving products;
  • Comb;
  • Wet wipes and disposable tissues;
  • Shampoo, shower gel, soap. Choose 2-in-1 products and individual packages. Keep in mind that most hotels will provide everything in your room.
  • Deodorant;
  • Manicure supplies (nail file, scissors). Get manicures, pedicures, and other treatments before your trip;
  • Decorative cosmetics. But not all the decorative cosmetics you have at home are definitely unnecessary;
  • Hairpins, hair bands;
  • Creams that you use in a small volume, SPF cream.

Before your trip, check and charge all your technology devices to avoid running out of battery during your trip. Here are the devices we recommend bringing on your trip.

  • A cell phone;
  • A camera, if you use one;
  • A laptop or tablet, if you plan to work or read an e-book;
  • When traveling by car, a navigation system with preloaded maps is a must. This can be replaced with a tablet or smartphone.

Clothing

Finally, many people have trouble choosing the clothes they want to take on vacation. Every outfit is unique, and you might want to bring your entire closet with you. Don’t, because you’ll likely not wear even half of it.

Give preference to comfortable clothes and choose things that complement each other:

  • Swimsuit / bathing suit (better to take two pairs so that there is the possibility of changing);
  • A pair of T-shirts and shirt, skirt/shorts;
  • Warm jacket or windbreaker in case of cool weather;
  • More changes of underwear;
  • Socks;
  • Pats;
  • Sun protection headgear;
  • Sunglasses.

So, everything you need is ready. You can move on to the most unpleasant part: packing. Divide your things into two parts: what you’ll bring with you (carry-on luggage) and what you’ll pack in your suitcase.

Money, all documents, and necessary equipment should be placed in your carry-on. Also, if you need certain medications or personal care products, it’s best to put them in your bag. If you’re flying, you shouldn’t carry anything sharp or liquid in your carry-on.

Don’t forget to check the weight of your suitcase. It should not exceed the limit set by your chosen airline. The suitcase should never be fully loaded.

Pack all liquids in tight bags, and distribute clothes, shoes, and the rest of the contents evenly. Most suitcases have a special pocket for underwear.

Bring a list of the things you were bringing with you; it’ll help you make sure you don’t forget anything on the way home. Have a good trip!
