“After having already removed the fuel excise tax discounts introduced by the Draghi government, reinstated system charges on electricity and gas bills, and increased VAT to 10% and 22% depending on consumption, we are continuing along this path,” adds Dona.
“It is essential that infrastructure investment initiatives be supported through general taxation, respecting the principle of taxpayer capacity established by Article 53 of the Constitution, and not by randomly increasing highway tolls,” Dona concludes.
The amendment, proposed by the four majority representatives, if approved, would lead to an increase in motorway tolls starting in August, with expected revenues of up to €90 million to cover ANAS’s additional expenses.
